In May 2019 Labour proposed a
motion to the County's Annual General Meeting that Leicestershire County Council declares a Climate Emergency
and would achieve carbon neutrality from its own operations by 2030. This was unanimously accepted but we need to go further to meet the
recommendations of the independent Committee on Climate Change.
In the following months this ensured a radical revision of the County's
Environment Strategy which permeates other policies and decisions, particularly in waste and transport.
Charnwood Borough Council also set Borough climate change policies actions.
