Public Service Biographical Notes:
County Councillor since 2001. Former Leader of Charnwood Borough Council 2003-2007.

Leicestershire County Council
I have served on most committees of the County Council and currently a leading member of the Highways/Transportation and Environment Scrutiny Committee
In 2019 I successfully proposed that the County declared aClimate Change Emergency resulting in the wholesale updating of the County's Environment Strategy to meet some targets in 2030 and recognise our legal duty to reach zero carbon by 2050.

Charnwood Borough Council
A member of Charnwood's first Cabinet from 1999 with lead responsibilities for highways, environmental services and planning; I have covered all policy matters but my particular interests were: Efficient local government, Transport, Social Care, economic development and supporting local communities.

Personal:
Some other interests: local history, film/reading, cycling and road running. I ran Two marathons in Dublin & Oslo, best time 3hrs 40mins, latest time for 10k 1hr 13 mins.
My son and daughter both attended primary and secondary schools in Loughborough. I worked for IT Services at Loughborough University and I was a Director of Central England Co-operative for five years.
I was a School Governor of Burleigh College (now Charnwood College) for several years. I am a member of Leics & Rutland Wildlife Trust.
Founder member of Thorpe Acre 2000 - a £10,000 millennium project including the Thorpe Acre Trail.;
